RE: Has LTV & PW also shut down production?

Haven't seen any news of any of those shutting down. I imagine they are all experiencing reduced sales. The dealers have got to be hurting.

RE: Mercedes diesel service

I am looking at a class B with a mercedes diesel engine and wonder about service. Have any of you had any problems getting service when you are traveling? Seems to me you might have trouble finding someone to work on them. I don't think a mercedes dealer would service them but don't know for sure.
Thanks in advance
If yours is a Sprinter that was originally sold in the United States or Canada, then it's Dodge or Freighliner before the previous owner re-badged it.
What company did the conversion from van to RV? You can ask them whether it was a Dodge or Sprinter. Also, there might be a clue on the vehicle registration, the logo on the steering wheel, the logo on the wheels, or the wording on the back of the van.
On the other hand, if it was an import, then possible any good diesel mechanic because Mercedes dealers won't be set up for servicing any better than anyone else.
Or did you already find your answer in previous posts?

RE: SMB Sprinter RB Van

Yeh, Juliev, the seat belts are super desirable. As for the electric sofa.... if it doesn't quit working when you're getting ready to make the bed and it's already cold and dark out.
To be fair, I suspect ours was subjected to a lot of use in the showroom, with people sitting on the sofa while making it recline. It's not really designed to handle that extra weight. Aside from the one time failure and me having to install a new drive assembly (LTV sent the assembly), it's a slick thing.
Hope you find a good deal and sell yours favorably.

RE: Free internet?

BTW, the cost of internet at the tier 1 wholesale level has dropped 1000% or more in the past decade,
Brian
I hate it when someone nitpicks but here I go. If the cost of internet had declined 1000% they would be paying us to use it.

I'm wondering why you would want to move out of your current B.

RE: SMB Sprinter RB Van

Good Heavens! More experiences than you can shake a stick at.
I suggest you:
1. search this forum
2. search the Yahoo.Sprinter Van group
3. search sprinter-source.com/forum
You will read mostly about the problems people have had because it's when there are problems that people look for help. You will also see a lot of comments about how well people like their vans, like the guy in England with 700,000 K on the Odo or the guy in Wisconsin who was a FedEx driver but quit and his van is for sale in good shape with 285,000 miles. Or me with 37,000 miles and plenty of good trips. Or the famous Abittendiner who works on Sprinters and has many words of praise for them.
And so on. There is a wealth of information.
kmessinger has a Sprinter Sportsmobile from Fresno and he was in Alaska this past Summer.

RE: RT190P Running 3 way Frig. out of level

I always have one question left over: how "out of level" is too much and how much isn't too much? We use a bubble level on the floor (we just put in on the floor when we're trying to level; it's not a permanent on-the-floor fixture) and we always get the center dot to be "in the bubble".

RE: Input Please: Laptop w/HDTV Capabilities & More

So, what's the question?
Oh, I see a sort of question, about the DirecTV. I can't tell you how many times I've enjoyed watching someone working on set up for the portable dish. My wife and I set there and just wonder: is TV that important?
Big question I ask you: what will be your internet access?
I've had several machines with AMD processors and have found them to be every bit as satisfactory as Intel but at a lower price. I know you didn't ask about processors, but you didn't really ask anything.

RE: Why don't people switch from Windows?

Lots of responses. Like wa8yxm, I've owned and used computers since there were no hard drives or floppies. Like with TV and with VCR and with DVD, I like standardization so that I can, for example, rent a movie and it will play on my machine.
If I go to use someone else's computer and it's not what I'm accustomed to using, it takes a lot more effort to get a job done. I vote for standarization.

RE: Where do you store your wine?

My Motorhome had free space on the wall of the dining room slide out where I was able to mount this six bottle rack:
The rack can be purchased at Link to Wine Rack
I thought we were talking about where do you store the wine in your Class B

RE: CONSIDERING A NEW: R/T, or P/W or LTV

.
As far as "on Star"--99% of the time you can get cell phone coverage. The exception might be in some very remote areas.
99% is a very high estimate for cell phone coverage. During our recent 5-week trip I estimate we had cell phone coverage no more than 50% of the time.
Traveling on interstates and major highways, yes. To and from some of our national parks and even inside the parks, there is often no coverage. Unless these are classified as "very remote areas". They don't seem terribly remote to me.
"very remote" is the Bristlecone Pine Forest or Devil's Postpile, or Convict Lake, or Russian Gulch, or Pfeiffer Big Sur, or Carter, SD.

RE: CONSIDERING A NEW: R/T, or P/W or LTV

And, the 2009 Plateau coach will be built on a 2008 3500 Sprinter van chassis with DUAL rear wheels...(This may be the same chassis that the new 09 Airstream Interstate is built on). It is the same chassis as the Airstream Interstate and also as the Leisure Travel Freedom II Serenity.
Techically, none of them is a class B, just as the RT 210 is not. What????!!!! The Airstream Interstate and the RT210 are definitely Class B's...technically and otherwise. The 3500 Sprinter van is available with dual rear wheels, and the Interstate is a conversion of this van, as I'm sure the new Plateau will be. The RT 210 is built on a Chevy 3500 extended van.
The LTV Freedom II is not a Class B, since it is built on the Sprinter chassis (not the van).
- LJZ
It must be true...I read it on the Internet.
So, I didn't read it on the internet and didn't even know that there is actually a Sprinter 3500 van. Rather stupid of me, I must say. Somehow I thought all Sprinter 3500s are cab/chassis. I apologize for the misinformation.

If you think dual rear wheels are a great way to go, then go for the Plateau or the Freedom II.
It depends partly in what you want to haul around with you and how many people travel with you.
My suggestion about extended sitting in and moving around it each of the models you consider still stands.

RE: CONSIDERING A NEW: R/T, or P/W or LTV

Your focus on Roadtrek, Pleasure Way, and Leisure Travel will serve you weil, though I can't think why you would want dual rear wheels, despite what you say.
I think it's a great thing to go to a dealer's place and explore each of the RVs in depth, up close and in person. Both you and your wife. Get in there, move around, act as if you own it. Then decide.
